After completing the Project Leadership Seminar, participants will
be able to:
- Define the concept of the core team and describe why it is
essential to develop, sustain, and protect the core team to keep
a project on time, on budget, and of high quality.
- Develop a core team at the beginning of a project, keep the
core team together throughout the life of the project, and protect
it from managers outside the project team.
- Recognize the conflicting goals of major project stakeholders
and apply management techniques presented by the course to maximize
stakeholder satisfaction at each stage over the life of the project.
- Recognize leadership behaviors associated with project success
and failure at each stage of a project, engage in the leadership
behaviors and strategies that are linked with project success
at that stage of the project, and avoid those which have been
identified with project failure.
- Assess the stage of development of the project team and practice
the proper leadership behaviors appropriate to that stage of development.
- Recognize the importance of authenticity, persistence and consistency
in leadership behavior to motivate project team members to successfully
lead a project, and demonstrate these characteristics in leading
projects.
- Recognize the project management process as the recommended
guide to action when managing projects. Follow it in order to
lead the project and use it as a mental model to learn from experience
and continuously improve project leadership.
- Maintain a high level of quality and customer focus throughout
the project life cycle.
- Apply project management tools and techniques including: PERT-CPM
charts, Gantt charts, responsibility charting, work-breakdown
structures, and activity charts.
